How many Russian families have spent maternity capital?

Fewer than half of the Russian families who have the right to maternity capital have used it fully, Anton Drozdov, Head of the Office of the Pension Fund of the RF, said at a meeting. According to his data, by the end of 2014, 5.6 mln maternity capital certificates were granted. Only 48% of those who had received them fully used the money. 52% used only part of it. The majority of the families spent the money on improvements to housing conditions.
In 2015, maternity capital is 453,000 rubles. As a reminder, maternity capital in Russia has been granted since 2007 to families who give birth to a second child. The money may be spent on improving housing conditions, the child’s education or the mother’s pension.
