The international exhibition of elevators and lifting equipment, Russian Elevator Week, opened in Moscow today. At the opening ceremony at (the Exhibition of Economic Achievements at) VDNKH were the chairman of the supervisory board of the "Fund of Assistance for the Reforming of Housing and Communal Services" state corporation, Sergey Stepashin, the CEO of JSC VDNKH, Vladimir Pogrebenko, the president of "The national lift union", Victor Tishin, and the heads of foreign lift associations.The deputy minister of construction and housing of the Russian Federation, Oleg Betin, addressing the guests of the exhibition, said, "Today, in skyscrapers, about half a million elevators are operating, and a trend for the standard terms of operation has developed. It is necessary to change this, and modernize it". In Russia, it is necessary to organise mass production to train the necessary experts, Betin is sure. The main business event of the Russian Elevator Week exhibition was a discussion on the main trends of the industry and effective cooperation.Among the participants were producers of elevators, escalators, elevators for disabled people, parking elevators, international and national associations, representatives of foreign producers and suppliers of parts and equipment.
