Putin and Erdogan unfreeze Turkish Stream project

Ankara made a decision to resume the “Turkish Stream” project, as well as construction of Akkuyu nuclear power plant, President of Turkey, Recep Erdogan, announced following the meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which took place on the 9th of August.




Vladimir Putin noted that even at the time of cooldown of political relations with the Russian Federation, the Turkish party continued to work over the project, and the main permits related to the construction work had been issued.

According to Chairman of Gazprom’s Board of Directors, Alexey Miller, at present, substantive negotiations on “Turkish Stream” are underway.

Vladimir Putin pointed out that the dialog with his Turkish colleague was a constructive one. The President stressed that that meeting in Saint Petersburg might become a new chapter in bilateral relations between two states.
