The volume of household waste processing will have been increased threefold by 2020, the Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment of Russia, Sergey Donskoy, told reporters at the “Ecotech” exhibition, held on Tuesday.
According to him, at present the level of household waste processed in Russia is no more than 8%. Among the products subject to utilization are paper, carton, polymers, glass, textiles, rubber, ferrous and colored metals, as well as foodstuffs.
Regarding the products and packaging - the usage of which produces wastes – wherein biodegradable materials may be used, measures of economic encouragement will be applied. Among them will be tax incentives regarding charges for negative impacts upon the environment at waste dumps and warnings regarding the payment of ecological taxes, specified the Minister.
