LUKOIL starts building high-tech lubricants plant in Kazakhstan

PJSC LUKOIL, Russia’s largest oil company, has launched the construction of a new lube blending plant which will be situated in the Almaty region near the strategic Western Europe-Western China transportation route, the Times of Central Asia reported on Monday.




The foundation-stone-laying ceremony that took place last week was attended by top Kazakh officials, including the Almaty region governor, Amandyk Batalov, and representatives of the Energy Ministry of Kazakhstan.

According to the press release, the priority market for the facility will be Kazakhstan and other countries in Central Asia. This was the decider for the plant’s location on the crossroad of vital transportation routes.

The general director of LLK-International, Maxim Donde, pointed out that the plant, producing world-class products, will have a capacity of 100,000 tons per year, with investments estimated at $85 million.
