Russian Ministry of Economic Development included “Crimean railways” state enterprise in the project of forecast plan for federal property privatization for 2017 – 2019.
“Crimean railways” state enterprise of the Republic of Crimea was set up following reunification of Russia and Crimea in 2014 on a basis of branches of Crimean Directorate of Dnepr railways, “Ukrzaliznytsy”, situated on the island.
In December 2015, the enterprise’s ownership was transferred to the Russian Federation, under jurisdiction of the Federal Railways Agency, Roszheldor. In January 2016, the entity was reorganized into “Crimean railways” state enterprise.
Crimean railways connect the cities of Sevastopol, Yevpatoria, Saki, Feodosia, Kerch, Krasnoperekopsk and Armyansk. It has three locomotive depots.
