Sanctions proposed by U.S. senators might damage not only bilateral relations between Moscow and Washington, but also global economy, spokesman for Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, told reporters on Wednesday.
He admitted that negative implications for Russia are likely as well, but the country would be able to mitigate risks.
A draft law toughening sanctions was published by a group of American senators. The law envisages sanctions for investments in Russian energy sector, as well as for participation in privatization in Russia and any operations with Russian sovereign bonds.
The document will have to be approved by both chambers of U.S. Congress, after what it will be submitted for signing to the President of the USA.
