The Board of Directors of the Finnish tyre manufacturer Nokian Tyres has decided to invest in its third plant in the United States and empowered the group’s top management to sign an agreement of intentions with the relevant executive authority in the United States, the company said.
The new plant will be located in Dayton (Rhea County), Tennessee, the United States. Its production capacity will amount to 4 million tires per year with the expansion potential in the future. The site will house a logistics center for 600,000 tyres. The total investment for this phase is approximately $360 million.
Construction activities are scheduled to begin in early 2018, and the first tyres are planned to be produced in 2020.
