Waymo, a car development company affiliated with Alphabet Inc, announced in a statement circulated by mail that the company is working on a project of unmanned trucks, Rambler News reports.
The company suggests that in the coming years, unmanned trucks will be able to carry out long distance transportation, while drivers will operate on local routes.
“We take our eight years of experience in creating of unmanned hardware and software, and conduct a technical study of how our technology can be applied in trucks,” the message of Waymo reads.
Earlier it was reported that other companies were interested in the development of unmanned trucks as well. As an example, Otto, a division of Uber Technologies, is engaged in these activities.
