Gazprom, a Russian gas giant, is considering the withdrawal from a capital of the Turkish company Bosphorus Gaz, Deputy Chairman of the gas holding, Alexander Medvedev, said at a press conference on Tuesday.
“We are considering the withdrawal from this asset for reasons of cost efficiency,” he said.
Earlier, Bloomberg reported that Turkish Adnan Sen was likely to buy out 71% of Bosphorus Gaz from Gazprom. The deal is under consideration of Turkish energy regulator and antimonopoly committee.
We should remind you that Bosphorus Gaz is an independent Turkish gas importer. The company was established in 2003. In 2004, Gazprom has acquired a share in the company’s capital and, in 2009, the Russian holding has increased its share up to 71%.
