Pilot testing of Yurta solar-wind hybrid power plant has been launched in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, Russia’s northern region.

As Construction.RU was told by the press office of Gazprom Neft-Yamal company, the facility is built on the premises of a pipeline acceptance station of the Novoportovsky field located in the area of Gulf of Ob.

Annual average wind speed reaches there 5,5 m/s and even in winter the sun shows high activity. The power plant consists of two wind generators, 30 solar panels and a rechargeable battery pack.

Equipment for the facility is produced at Russian enterprises and is designed to operate at temperatures to minus 60 degrees Celsius.

Following the pilot testing, a decision will be made on whether to introduce such installations to other facilities of the company.
