Residents of the Russian capital city have chosen designs for under construction metro stations of Sheremetyevo, Rzhevskaya and Stromynka, according to the press office of a contest intended to determine the shape of the new stations.
“The projects of winners will become the new symbols of those historic locations, where new stations will be. Maryina Roshcha, Rizhsky railway station, Sokolniki Park – all these are sites familiar to the residents. Therefore, their architectural appearance was important to delicately complement with a simple architecture of ground pavilions, while the stations’ interiors will become an underground continuation of the winners’ ideas,” the chief architect of Moscow, Sergey Kuznetsov, said.
The voting took place on Active Citizen news portal. At the final stage, Moscow residents were choosing among the nine concepts. By a decision of the majority, a design project of the architectural bureau AI Architects will be realized at Sheremetyevo station, Blank Project Architects will design Rzhevskaya station, and MAR Architects – Stromynka metro station.
