An agricultural and logistics facility worth about 2 billion rubles ($29 million) has started operation in the Russian city of Samara, the press office of the regional government said on Friday.

“This is an important project for the region, for agriculture ... The agro-park is serving a very important task of accessibility of small agricultural producers to large trading networks ... It is important that this is a private project, with 2 billion private investments made,” Dmitry Avarov, an interim Governor of the Samara region, said at the opening of the enterprise.

According to the press office, the agricultural and logistics facility under the name of “Samara” is a modern enterprise designed for receiving, storing, processing and selling agricultural products. The agro-park will be capable of providing up to 12,000 tons of one-time storage, with the expected turnover being more than 300 thousand tons of products per year.

The managing company of the agro-park will create 49 jobs. The facility is located on the territory with a total area of 16 hectares in the Kirovsky district of Samara, not far from the stadium Samara Arena built for the 2018 World Cup.
