The timber holding company Segezha Group, which is part of AFK Sistema, is going to build a woodworking plant in the Sakhalin region, the company said.
The facility will have a capacity of at least 35,000-40,000 cubic meters of laminated wood structures per year.
“Segezha Group and the government of the Sakhalin region signed a roadmap for the implementation of a joint investment project for the construction on Sakhalin of a plant producing laminated wood structures applied in the construction of prefabricated houses”, RIA Novosti reported with reference to the company.
The Industry and Trade Ministry of the Russian Federation is likely to include this project in a list of priority investment projects in the area of forest development.
As a reference, Segezha Group is the largest Russian vertically integrated timber holding with a full cycle of logging and deep processing of wood. The holding company includes Russian and European enterprises of forestry, woodworking and pulp and paper industry. The holding's products are sold in 88 countries.
