About 60% of Russians support, or at least have no problem with, new or under-construction nuclear power stations, said the deputy head of Rosatom, Kirill Komarov, at the 48th conference of the Japanese nuclear industrial forum.

According to him, development of worldwide nuclear power has to be encouraged by society. The population of the countries where nuclear power units are built has the right to know what advantages of this type of power gives and what safety technology is used in modern NPPs. In Russia, anyone who is interested can visit a NPP several times a year. An ordinary person can see with his own eyes the NPP as it operates. Therefore, we have a considerable level of public support. These circumstances also allow us to develop nuclear power in Russia. Every year since 1968 we have had conferences of the Japanese nuclear industrial forum in the Japanese capital, which serve as a platform for an exchange of opinions of leading experts from around the world in this industry. At the same time, one of the purposes of a forum is to search for an approach for building confidence in this type of energy in ordinary consumers, ie. the citizens of different countries. More than 1,000 representatives from around the world are taking part in the conference this year.
