Israel builds road to extend Efrat settlement

Judea and Samaria's local authorities plan to build a large road, the initiative, which will result in an increase of the Efrat settlement up to 2,500 homes, The Jerusalem Post reports on Monday.

However, Peace Now, an Israeli non-governmental organization advocating a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, claims that the road building will have a “devastating impact”, similar to that by the E-1 project opposite the Ma’aleh Adumim settlement condemned by the international community.

Israel, which believes that Efrat will be a part of the country, according to the final peace agreement, calls the settlement a “consensus community,” whereas Palestinians take an opposite stance, claiming that this territory must be comprised into their future state.
