Today, a conference entitled “City as Innovation” opened within the framework of the 33rd World Conference of the International Association of Technoparks and Innovation Development Zones in Skolkovo innovation center, Moscow.
As our special correspondent, Sofia Orlova, reports from the ground, the conference is devoted to cities of the future. The main topic of the event is innovations production and competitiveness on the global market of human resources.
According to Chairman of the Management Board of Skolkovo Fund, Igor Drozdov, the year 2017 will become for Skolkovo a start-up of innovation urban area.
Anthony Mallows, the Director of Masdar City for design engineering and construction (UAE), shared his experience with the conference attendants and stressed that for the “smart cities” creation, it’s necessary to shift from economy based on natural resources production to economy of intellect.
About 1200 students will study in Skolkovo, which is a platform for young researches, who have at their disposal affordable offices with expensive equipment. The area of innovation park will be 100,000 square meters.
All necessary infrastructure facilities will also be provided there, including nursery schools, schools, transport junction. There will be a required environment for comfortable life, noted Anton Yakovenko, ODAS “Skolkovo” general director.
