Two new pretrial custodies to be built in Crimea

Two new pre-trial detention centers are planned to be erected in Simferopol, the Republic’s administrative center, and Kerch, a city of regional significance in the east of the Crimea.

As a Deputy Director of Russian Federal Penal Service, Oleg Korshunov, told reporters on Friday, at present, the detainees are contained in the only pretrial custody on the peninsula located in Simferopol.

Another pre-trial detention center is under construction on a basis of №1 penal colony in Simferopol. Construction of one more facility designed to house 1,000 people is scheduled in Kerch over the period of the years 2017 – 2025.

The announced project will require some billions roubles and will become the major one on the Peninsula.
