Vietnam’s National Assembly approved on Tuesday a dismissal of plans for construction of two 4000 MW nuclear power plants in partnership with Russia and Japan due to shortage of funds, Bloomberg reports.

Apart from that, the Assembly passed the public budget for 2016 – 2020, which doesn’t provide for expenditure on these projects. The funds, intended to be spent on the development of nuclear energy, will be allocated to construction of infrastructure and solving the climate-related problems.

Vietnamese government believes that the dismissal of plans for NPP construction will not affect energy security of the country that will be ensured by means of coal, gas and other kinds of power generation.
