Russia plans to double number of space launches next year

Roscosmos’s launch program for the year 2017 will be doubled, the head of state corporation, Igor Komarov, said on Wednesday.


“Launching program for the next year is provided with a large increase. Next year we will, in fact, double the number of launches,” Igor Komarov said.

According to him, implementation of the launch program will begin in January of 2017, when the launches from Baikonur and Guiana space center are planned. The Plesetsk cosmodrome will begin its active work in February, a lot of work over completion of the construction at the Vostochny space centre has also to be done, the head of Roskosmos said.
