Nine companies from Europe are ready to take part in a project for expansion of Shahid Rajaee Port, Iran’s largest container port, Iran Daily News reports with the reference to a statement of a high-ranked Iranian official.
“At present, nine giant European companies expressed their willingness to take part in the implementation of the project for construction of the third phase of Shahid Rajaee Port,” Mohammad Saeidnejad, Managing Director of Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization, announced without providing any further details.
As a reference, Shahid Rajaee Port is located 20 kilometers west of Bandar Abbas city, at northern shore of the Strait of Hormoz and Qeshm Island.
According to the project, capacity of the third phase will amount to 1,4 million TEU. A total amount of investments is estimated at $280 million.
