On Wednesday, construction of Foxconn plant producing liquid-crystal displays (LCD) has been launched in the Chinese city of Guangzhou, situated in the south of the country, China.org.cn reports.
Implementation of the first phase of the project is estimated at 61 billion yuan (approximately $8.8 billion).
The 1.5 square-kilometer facility, which will be located in Zengcheng district, is planned to be put in operation in summer 2019.
After the plant is commissioned, it will produce 10.5-generation 8K displays, smart TVs and electronic whiteboards, as well as other products.
The annual production value will be about 92 billion yuan.
Between 6,000 to 10,000 technical jobs are expected to be created at the enterprise.
