A passenger train derailed in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh overnight into Thursday, Reuters reports today with the reference to the country’s Railway Ministry spokesman.




According to the preliminary data, 25 people were injured. As it became known, the incident occurred when eight carriages of the passenger train derailed.

It happened at about 2.00 (4.30 GMT) local time, 270 kilometers from the state capital of Lucknow.

Medical staff of the hospital, where the injured had been taken, said that six of them were in serious condition.

The Mahakoshal Express was going from Jabalpur city and headed for the capital city of India, New Delhi.

This incident is the latest one involving the world's fourth-largest rail network.
