Japan intends to cooperate with Russia in the development and exploitation of a new Russian space launcher complex, Vostochny Cosmodrome, which is being built in the Amur region.

This is what deputy director general of Roskosmos state corporation for international activity, Sergey Saveliev, said in an interview with RIA Novosti published today, at a 2017 LAAD aviation and space show in Brazil.

According to him, the Japanese partners are willing to conduct their own commercial launches from the site.

Roscosmos, a Russian space agency, and Japanese JAXA, as well as other relative agencies, are also examining an opportunity to implement other investment projects.

The stance of the Russian government is that Vostochny Cosmodrome should become one of the centers of innovation development in the Far East.
