The Ministry of Transport of Russia has announced that it has imposed shipping limits in two sections of the Kerchensky Channel due to the construction of a transport passage to Crimea.

As Construction.ru was told by the press office of the Federal Marine and River Transport Agency, it has been done for the purpose of ensuring navigation security. The first section is from the Tamansky Peninsula along the Tuzla tongue of land and Tuzla Island to the right side of the Kerch-Yenikalsky Channel.

The second is from the left side of the Kerch-Yenikalsky Channel to Kerch. This section, where shipping is limited, passes straight through the route of construction of the soon-to-be-constructed bridge. However, in the course of the construction works, the thoroughfare for ships will remain open.

The general contractor for the bridge’s construction, the “Stroygasmontazh” company, must put this unique passage into service by December, 2018.
