The world’s fastest elevator will be installed in the 632-meter Shanghai Tower, the tallest building in China, reports Japan Today, citing the local media.
The high-speed elevator has been developed by the Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, headquartered in Tokyo, one of the world’s leaders in electronic equipment manufacture. According to the document released by the company, its elevators are capable of achieving a record speed of 1,230 meters per minute, or 20.5 meters per second.
Using this elevator, Shanghai Tower’s visitors will be able to get from the basement to the 119th floor in less than one minute.
This has become possible due to a new control panel which maximizes the performance of the traction machine. Also, the speed governor, brake device and buffer have been considerably improved.
