In 2018 – 2020 RF Construction, Housing and Utilities Ministry intends to sharply increase the construction of roads in Russia in order to accomplish its portion of a so called May decrees of Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding doubling of highway commissioning.
As Vedomosti newspaper reports today, 3800 km of federal roads have been built and reconstructed over the period of 2003 – 2012. That is why Russian Construction Ministry has to put into operation 7600 kilometers in 2013 – 2022.
Currently, 1733 kilometers have been constructed, however 4517 kilometers more are planned to be commissioned until 2020. At the same time, in 2016 alone, no more than 360,3 km of highways are scheduled to be built and reconstructed, the new edition of the Construction Ministry activity project for 2016 – 2020 says.
According to the Ministry’s forecast, the slowdown will last for three years, however, in 2018 three times more roads than in 2017 are expected to be built. In order to attain this goal Russian Federal Road Agency will attract private investments.
