Construction of a concrete wall on the border with Turkey and Syria will be finished in the first half of 2017, Anadolu reports citing the statement of the Defense Minister of Turkey, Fikri Isik.
According to Fikri Isik, 270 kilometers of the fencing have already been built and 200 kilometers out of the 520 remained are being currently under construction.
“Eighty five kilometers of the boundary accounts for rivers (Tigris and Euphrates), regarding which we will take other measures,” the agency cites the head of Turkish Defense Ministry.
Earlier, Anadolu reported about completion of construction of the modular concrete wall’s section with the length of 239 kilometers. Moreover, other security measures have been taken, including deployment of task forces and additional personnel.
