The Basic Element Group owned by Oleg Deripaska, a Russian businessman estimated to have a net worth of US$3.2 billion, remains interested in the development of an airport in the Siberian city of Irkutsk, as well as of ten small regional airfields.

This follows from a letter of a director general of the relative department of Airport Development Group, Maxim Ilyushin, to Governor of the Irkutsk region, Sergey Levchenko, Interfax news agency reports on the 9th of January, 2017.

At the same time, the letter’s author stresses that the company is ready to make investments in the existing airport in Irkutsk “on those conditions that will be laid down by the owner – the Irkutsk region,” including maintaining the airport’s stake in the regional property.
