At the beginning of next year, an automobile bridge across the Samur River will be put in operation, which will connect Russia and Azerbaijan.
This was announced today by Azerbaijan's Minister of Economy, Shakhin Mustafayev. As a reference, works at the construction site were launched in the autumn of 2017. The bridge is 325 meters long and 17 meters wide. This project is very much in demand by transport systems both of Russia and Azerbaijan.
‘It opens up opportunities for further cooperation, trade as well as comfortable passenger transportation and efficient freight traffic’, Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov commented the launch of the bridge construction last year.
Investments in the project amounted to 1.2 billion rubles, with the costs divided between the two countries equally.
