The turnover in the Belarusian-Russian cement market in the period between 2014 and 2018 reached $400 million, Global Cement reports with reference to the Ministry of Architecture and Construction of the Republic of Belarus.

After the signing of a bilateral agreement between the two countries in 2014, Belarusian cement was permitted to be sold in Russia through Eurocement Group — the largest holding in the CIS for the production of building materials. In early August 2018, the Belarusian Minister of Architecture and Construction Anatoly Cherny and President of Eurocement Mikhail Skorokhod held a meeting at which they discussed joint work in the first half of this year.

The Ministry’s website reports that thanks to this cooperation it became possible to completely meet the demand for Belarusian cement on the Russian market. Mikhail Skorokhod said during the meeting that special working groups had been set up to tackle issues related to cement supply. In addition, an audit of cement producers was being conducted. Anatoly Cherny, in turn, stressed that the Russian market was and would continue to be strategic for Belarus.
