Construction of a metro tunnel that will be located on the southwestern section of the Large Circle Line has been launched on Friday.
A Chinese tunnel boring machine is being engaged in the building activities, Interfax news agency reported referring to Mars Gazizullin, the head of Mosinzhproekt — a Russian engineering company performing the functions of a general contractor for the construction of new stations of the Moscow Metro.
“Galina tunnel boring machine has started the tunneling of the left main line tunnel between the stations of Prospect Vernadsky and Michurinsky Prospect”, he specified.
It is planned that a 1461-meter tunnel will be laid beneath 50-Letiya Oktyabrya Street and Ulitsa Udaltsova Street. The contractor — a Chinese company CRCC — intends to complete all work on the construction of this section the Large Circle Line by the winter next year. The under-construction metro section includes the stations of Prospekt Vernadskogo, Michurinsky Prospekt and Aminevskoye Shosse.
Chinese tunnel boring machines have been involved before in construction work on laying tunnels in the southwestern section of the Large Circle Line.
