It is believed that, during the construction and reconstruction of the airport, the Swiss Malcolm Construction Company will be engaged and about 1,500 jobs will be created.

In the current year, steel and concrete designs for the building of the new terminal are to be mounted, and also work on external engineering networks are to be completed. Next year, work on the external and internal finish of the passenger terminal will be completed. Also, an overhaul of the runway, the turn-off strips and the parking lots for the aircraft will be carried out. Work on the reconstruction of the airport of Astana is planned to be finished by March 2017.
