Between the terminals of Sheremetyevo airport, two special underground tunnels for cargo trains will be excavated, as reported today to journalists by the CEO of the airport, Mikhail Vasilenko.
According to him, trains will run between the north terminals "B" and "C" and the southern buildings "D", "E" and "F”. In one tunnel will be the rolling stock and in other a high-speed luggage system. Underground works are estimated at $330 million. It is estimated that the delivery time of passengers between the northern and southern terminals shouldn't exceed 50 minutes, and baggage 30 minutes. In place of the terminal "B" (formerly "Sheremetyevo-1"), which is subject to demolition by the end of 2017, a new modern air terminal of 100,000 sq.m. will be constructed. There will be 19 telescopic ladders and a third of its area will be given over to commercial use.
