This year, 8 bln roubles have been allocated for the construction of the Russian “Proryv” (“Breakthrough”) project to test the nuclear energy technologies of the future.

This is what the press office of the “Rosatom” enterprise told Construction.ru on Friday. It was indicated that the project is being implemented at the “Siberian Chemical Integrated Plant” in the city of Seversk in the Tomsk region.

The issue is the creation of the industrial technology for a nuclear fuel cycle closure on the basis of a fast-fission reactor. Such a reactor would significantly increase the fuel storage of atomic energy and reduce the amount of nuclear waste.

According to the experts, Russia is the world's leader in this area at present.

“About 3 bln roubles will be spent in 2016 on the construction and installation work, and approximately 5 bln roubles will be allocated for equipment, the development of the project and detailed design documentation, as well as for the expert analysis”, said the director general of the “Siberian Chemical Integrated Plant”, Sergey Tochilin.

All equipment has been made on the basis of Russian innovations. The commissioning is scheduled for 2017-2018.
