Russia builds 400 objects of military infrastructure on Kurils

The Federal Special Construction Agency of Russia (Spetsstroy) announced on Friday that the construction of the objects of military infrastructure was underway in full blast on the Kuril Islands – Iturup and Kunashir.

“A total volume of the construction on the islands amounts to about 400,000 sq.m, erection of 392 buildings is envisaged there”, - says the Agency’s statement.

The project provides for the erection of objects for combat purpose, such as training military ranges, areas for ammunition and machinery storage. Social infrastructure is being established as well: residential facilities, cultural and sports centers.

According to the statement of the Federal Special Construction Agency, the objects are built with the usage of modern technologies and are environment-friendly, as well as earthquake-resistant.

Over 500 workers and 100 machinery units are engaged in the construction works at the sites.
