The Russian Government has approved an export loan to the Republic of Bangladesh in amount of $11,38 bln for the construction of a nuclear power plant, says the corresponding decree published on the official website of legal information.

Earlier, the credit amount hadn't been officially announced by the Russian party.

According to the decree, the matter concerns the credit financing works, services and supplies of equipment within the project. Bangladesh might finance up to 90% of the contracts using the borrowed funds of the Russian credit. The loan can be used over the period of 2017 – 2024.

At present, Bangladesh experience power shortages. Last December, Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation concluded a contract for construction of the first NPP in the country, which would include two power units with 1200 MW VVER reactors. Rooppur nuclear power plant will be erected upon the Russian project.

The total construction cost of the facility is $12,6 bln.
