Experts believe that restarted negotiations between Russia and Turkey on construction of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline will help Moscow in its talks with the European Union regarding Nord Stream-2, TASS reports on the 2nd of August.

Sources in diplomatic circles claim that resumption of talks on the Turkish Stream project worry the EU officials, since that would make Europe more dependent on Russian natural resources.

As soon as the Turkish Stream gas pipeline is put into operation, Russia will not need Ukraine to transit natural gas to Europe.

As Economy Minister of Turkey said, a final impulse to this project would be given over the course of a meeting of Russia's and Turkey's heads of the states, which is to take place on the 9th of August in the Russian city of Saint Petersburg.
