According to the data provided by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the country’s total construction fell 3.7% in the June quarter, amounting to $47.4 billion, having hit an unprecedented low since the year 2011, ABC News reports on Wednesday.

Despite a certain increase in building and residential sectors, there is a retreat in engineering construction capturing the big LNG and mining projects.

Residential building grew by 0.8% in the quarter and other building work increase by 1.2% for the similar period.

Meanwhile, there is an evident geographical gap: while in Victoria has construction work has grown, in New South Wales and the ACT the figure declines.
