Norway starts construction of a fence made of steel rods on the border with Russia, Rossiiskaya Gazeta reports. The construction work is carried out in the area of Sturskug-Borisoglebsky checkpoint.
The height of the fence will amount to 3,5 meters and its length will be 200 meters, the Norwegian authorities say. The country’s government believes that this structure will prevent illegal immigrants from entering Norway.
According to Norwegian media, over the course of the past winter period, approximately 5,000 refugees penetrated to the territory of the country by bicycles.
However, a number of Norwegian politicians are cynical about the started construction, saying that the initiative looks like a cold war revival.
