The Austrian authorities began mounting pillars, upon which a fencing along the border between Austria and Hungary is to be subsequently erected, the representative of the Austrian police said on Tuesday, Interfax reports.
However, the final decision on the fencing construction hasn’t been made yet. Earlier, the Austrian government announced its plans to build a fencing in case the measures against illegal immigrants have to be intensified.
Over the last year, about 90,000 illegal immigrants arrived in Austria. Fearing the influx of immigrants, the Austrian government announced this year that it intended to give the right to apply for a political asylum for no more than 37,500 immigrants.
