Mary Freehill, an ex-Lord Mayor of Dublin and Labour Party member, came up with an offer to place people on ships, for the purpose to deal with accommodation crisis in the city, Independent.ie reports on Thursday.

The official submitted a corresponding initiative at Planning SPC of the local administration. In the opinion of Mary Freehill, it’s crucial to promote floatel services in Dublin. The ex-Mayor noted that large accommodation ships, anchored on water, could accommodate 200 separate living units.

She provided an example of oil industry, in which such ships were widespread, solving the problem of lack of accommodation.

Mary Freehill believed that such a proposal might be useful for students and workers, taking into consideration the current cost and shortage of accommodation.
