The head of Rosatom, Sergey Kirienko, expects that the contract for construction of a nuclear power plant in Egypt will be signed soon. “I believe that this issue (will be solved) quickly, earlier than before the end of the year” he told reporters.

“We have largely completed harmonization. Today our delegates are in Egypt, it is stylistic issues that are left (to discuss). On Thursday we had a big meeting chaired by President of Egypt, we have agreed all key aspects,” stressed Sergey Kirienko.

As Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, said earlier in August, the final agreement on construction of Egypt’s first nuclear power plant would be signed the current year.

As a reference, on the 19th of November 2015, Russian-Egyptian intergovernmental agreement on construction of NPP, including four power units with the capacity of 1200 MW each, was signed in Cairo.
