Construction of dockage facility for floating NPP starts in Russia

Today, in Russian Arctic town of Pevek, construction of onshore facilities intended for installation there of a floating nuclear power plant in the year 2019.




According to Chukotka governor Roman Kopin, a ship factory, a 600-meter quay-pier and coastline infrastructure will be erected on this place. The floating nuclear power plant itself, named “Academic Lomonosov”, is currently under construction at Baltic plant in Saint Petersburg.

Two KLT-40C water-cooled and water-moderated reactors with the capacity of 35 MW each, produced at Nizhny Novgorod machinery plant, will be installed at the NPP. The facility will generate enough power to provide with electricity the town of Pevek, as well as mines and mineral processing plants.
