Tbilisi. Our correspondent Alexey Nevsky. A press tour in Georgia, organized by KNAUF CIS company for Russian and Belarusian journalists representing construction and business media, continues. On the third day, the guests visited the facilities under construction in the capital of this country.

One of the most interesting facilities, not just in Tbilisi, but in the whole Georgia, is the construction of BILTMORE – TBILISI hotel. It is located on Rustaveli Prospect, 29. The company’s materials – aquapanels, gypsum boards, acoustical systems and finishing agents – have been applied here to the full extend.

For example, KNAUF gypsum boards were applied at renovating the hotel’s ceilings (see the picture).

This hotel has its own unique history. The building was constructed in 1914. Since 1918 to 1921 the first parliament of independent Georgia was located there.

Later, under Soviet rule, this building housed Institute for Marxism-Leninism at the regional department of Communist Party’s Central Committee. Several years ago, an investor from UAE set to convert this facility into a hotel. Notably, the building of Marxism-Leninism Institute is just an entrance part of the hotel. Afterwards, a 32-storey tower was attached to the old bulk (see the picture).

The investor has spent a total of $86m on restoration only of the old building. Moreover, the investor from UAE used the most advanced technologies and materials, including those produced by KNAUF.

As a reference:

Almost all hotels in Georgia were built with the usage of KNAUF materials and technologies.
