An official groundbreaking ceremony at a site of Cathedral Mosque intended to become the main place of worship for Crimean Muslims was held on Friday in Simferopol.
The mosque is being constructed on the southern slope of the city, in the area of Simferopol water storage. According to the project, it will include two parts: the first is the main building with dimensions of 37 to 37 meters and a 28 meter cupola, the second one is an aula. The mosque will have four minarets, 50 meters each.
The facility is scheduled to be put into operation in the year 2019. A contractor general of the construction project is the Russian company.
