According to the Housing Minister of State for Housing of the United Kingdom, Gavin Barwell, British government is unable to fulfill a task of building one million homes by 2020, Sky News reports on Friday.
The task had been previously set by David Cameron's government in 2015 and was intended to meet estimates of the shortfall in the country's housing needs.
Gavin Barwell specified to Sky News that at present, approximately 170,000 homes were under construction annually. However, the Minister admitted that the results should have been much better.
Nevertheless, he reminded that in 2010 house building rates in the UK were at their lowest since the 1920s. Since then, Mr Barwell added, there was a significant progress.
