A consortium of Chinese companies, GCL-SI and CCEC, unveiled its plans to construct a solar power plant with a capacity of 1GW in exclusion zone around the Chernobyl nuclear power station.
The project is scheduled to be implemented in the year 2017.
According to GCL-SI press release issued today, Chinese companies are going to come in following installation of a new sarcophagus above the fourth reactor at Chernobyl NPP.
The Chinese don’t reveal, where exactly a construction site will be located, however, the most perspective option has already passed several stages of evaluation and harmonization.
Declared mission of the project is to revive the affected area by means of green and renewable energy.
