The UK authorities support a project for construction of Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline and are interested in its realization, UK Special Representative for Climate Change, Sir David King said in an interview to RIA Novosti news agency on Thursday.
He assured that London was interested in gas supplies and would attempt to block the project.
The matter is that after 2025, the United Kingdom intends to fully stop using of coal and to dramatically increase gas consumption. Earlier, the British authorities counted upon the development of gas fields located in Arctic seas, but that plan turned to be very expensive, stressed Sir David King.
We should remind you that construction of Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline is opposed by such states as Ukraine, Poland and Slovakia.
