Chinese National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) has expressed its readiness to participate in realization of the project for building Belene nuclear power plant in Bulgaria.
This issue was negotiated at a meeting of CNNC representatives with members of the Republic’s Council of Ministers held on 5 December in Sofia, the press service of the Bulgarian government reports.
According to the statement, the talks were initiated by the Chinese part. The resigned Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Boyko Borisov, as well as the resigned Deputy Prime Minister and the Energy Minister Tomislav Donchev and Temenuzhka Petkova took part in the meeting.
“Over the course of the meeting, Boyko Borisov pointed out that Belene project could be implemented on a commercial basis without public investment and any long-term contracts for the purchase of electricity. Representatives of the Chinese Corporation confirmed their willingness to participate in the project on such conditions”, - the statement reads.
